I had a girl look at me one morning at the kindergarten and just casually say, “You have brown skin.”
First thought in my head was, “YES! I’VE STILL GOT A TAN!”, which was followed by me liking this little girl a little more.
Then I listened to the perfect female, Aryan specimen as she went on a long talk about how people with really really really really really really dark skin are from Africa, which naturally I confirmed because, well, yes.
I asked her if she knew why my skin was brown, and she replied with a no. I told her that were I’m from, the sun shines all the time, so I always have a suntan.
She thought for a second and was like, “Well, that makes sense.”
And that was that. I wish it was this easy for adults.
